The Lee Lancers continued their steady improvement with a 3-1 win at Falls Church High School Monday night, beating the Jaguars 25-8, 25-20, (25-27), 25-17. Lee's freshmen and JV teams also won their matches which were originally scheduled for September 8th but postponed by flooding. Junior middle blocker Carolina Lopez led the Lancer offense with 16 kills. She also had two blocks. Senior opposite hitter Ally Posey served 12 straight times in the first set and seven straight in set number two. She had four aces for the match. Sophomore Zaria Huggins provided a spark in the back row and senior libero Jhanina Vargas played excellent defense all night. Most of the starters got to rest in the third set while coach Adam Greenberg worked in the entire bench, nearly completing the sweep. For the match, Vargas served five aces while Fernanda Rojas racked up seven aces to lead the team. The junior setter also tallied 25 assists and had two kills of her own. Juniors Yasmin Alexander and Sophia Okorn each had four kills. The Lancers are back in action tomorrow night at Edison.
